Wow..

Whaaat!? Do mannequins in Sweden really look that much different?? Wow. Beauty standards here in america seem even more unrealistic now :(

We even dehumanize the features in America.

this that a so wrong with the world for shame america!

It’s not H&M in Sweden it’s ÅHLÉNS ^-^
must add though that far from all look like this!
I wish that mannequins were displayed of all sizes, colors, shapes, etc. I think it would probably really bring sales up for these big department stores if they showed what the clothes looked like on more realistic models.

This is real?! WTF, United States. Get it the FUCK* together.

Human beings took our animal need for palatable food … and turned it into chocolate souffles with salted caramel cream. We took our ability to co-operate as a social species … and turned it into craft circles and bowling leagues and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We took our capacity to make and use tools … and turned it into the Apollo moon landing. We took our uniquely precise ability to communicate through language … and turned it into King Lear.

None of these things are necessary for survival and reproduction. That is exactly what makes them so splendid. When we take our basic evolutionary wiring and transform it into something far beyond any prosaic matters of survival and reproduction … that’s when humanity is at its best. That’s when we show ourselves to be capable of creating meaning and joy, for ourselves and for one another. That’s when we’re most uniquely human.

And the same is true for sex. Human beings have a deep, hard-wired urge to replicate our DNA, instilled in us by millions of years of evolution. And we’ve turned it into an intense and delightful form of communication, intimacy, creativity, community, personal expression, transcendence, joy, pleasure, and love. Regardless of whether any DNA gets replicated in the process.

Why should we see this as sinful? What makes this any different from chocolate souffles and King Lear?

Helplessness Blues - Fleet Foxes

a-distortedreality:

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues

I was raised up believing I was somehow unique
Like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes, unique in each way you can see
And now after some thinking, I’d say I’d rather be
A functioning cog in some great machinery serving something beyond me

Still Alive - Sara Quin from Artificial Heart

Sara Quin → Still Alive (Jonathan Coulton)

YOU GUYS DON’T UNDERSTAND. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR.EV.ER. And it lived up to my expectations, because it’s BEAUTIFUL. Sara Quin’s voice is PERFECT for this. And I want to freak out because I love it so much, but I can’t because I’m in my school’s library. It’s like…two of my most favorite things in the world IN ONE. I CAN’T EVEN. MUST REPLAY. <sobs>

I’ve always loved watching colors mixing in water. I think it’s so beautiful, the way the color seems to turn into fabric dancing in the breeze. I feel like I can just reach out and touch the delicate fibers, but I can’t, obviously, because it’s all just liquid. I have no choice but to stand back and watch. I find it all so amazing. And this shot is fantastic. I don’t understand why I feel so in awe.
